CCOP Cancer Prevention Pilot Funds

Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) is pleased to announce the availability of funds to support pilot projects in cancer prevention. These funds are available from our CCOP Research Base grant supported by the NCI Division of Cancer Prevention. Any investigator at a CALGB main member, at-large member, CCOP or affiliate is eligible to apply. Applications should be in the form of a 3-5 page concept sheet to conduct a prevention pilot clinical trial. Applications that propose to conduct the pilot trial as a CALGB study (rather than as a single institution study) will be given preference. The concept sheet should follow the following format:

  • Title Page
  • Background and Rationale (include feasibility)
  • Study Objectives
  • Study Plan (include eligibility criteria)
  • Statistics
  • References

Along with the concept sheet, applications should include the biographical sketch of the PI, summary of Other Support and a budget (following the PHS 398 budget format) that may request up to $50,000 in direct costs with appropriate budget justifications.

Applications must be submitted by no later than Monday, July 13, 2009. Following review and consultation with DCP staff, approved projects will be funded during the grant budget period that begins June 1, 2009. Please note that these funds must be expended by May 31, 2010, the end of the grant budget period.

Questions about the application process should be addressed to Kathy Mrozek, Associate CFO, CALGB at kmrozek@uchicago.edu or 773-834-8741.
