Tickets for the 2007 PLAYERS Championship Will Raise Money for Norris Cotton Cancer Center

March 26, 2007

The Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer is pleased to announce that an online auction will begin on March 27 for two tickets for The 2007 PLAYERS Championship being held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, FL, from May 7-13. The auction package includes two (2) grounds passes valid for practice rounds taking place Monday through Wednesday May 7-9, and four days of Championship golf which will begin Thursday, May 10. Also included in the package is an on-site parking pass. The money raised from this auction will support cancer research and patient services at Dartmouth's Norris Cotton Cancer Center, named one of the top 50 cancer centers in the country by U.S.News & World Reports.

The package, valued at more than $400.00, was donated to the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center with the express purpose of serving as a fundraiser. Bids will be taken via the Friends' website.

"We're thrilled to have these passes to what is known as the showcase event of the PGA Tour," said Jean Brown, Executive Director of the Friends. "Seeing the best players in golf up close is an amazing experience. I hope golf enthusiasts all over the country bid on this terrific package and help fund new developments in the fight against cancer."

This year's field is expected to include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Jim Furyk, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and many more, making this one of the most important tournaments of the year. TPC Sawgrass had a massive renovation at the close of the 2006 season and the multimillion dollar project has just been completed. Its signature hole, the Par 3 #17, is instantly recognizable with its island green, and may be the single most famous hole in professional golf.

The online auction will close at midnight on Sunday, April 8, 2007. The winner will be notified on Monday, April 9th.
