Oncology Dietitian Honored

The Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group (ON DPG) of the American Dietetic Association presented Jeannine B. Mills, MS, RD, CSO, LD, with its 2009 Connie San Andres-Robles Distinguished Service Award at the Association's annual meeting in Denver, CO, in October. Mills was nominated by her peers in recognition of her outstanding contributions in service, dedication, and achievement to the practice of oncology nutrition and to the mission of the ON DPG. Mills is one of five Norris Cotton Cancer Center dietitians offering nutrition care to adult and pediatric patients with cancer in Lebanon, and providing oncology-specific advice and resources to the dietitians in partner hospitals in our Manchester, Keene, and St. Johnsbury, VT, locations.

An outpatient clinical dietitian at the Cancer Center since August 2000, Mills manages the multiple nutritional issues of patients with cancer, educates staff, participates in research studies/proposals, and provides numerous presentations to support groups and cancer symposiums throughout the state. Mills is active nationally in the ON DPG and holds a position as Chair Elect on the ON DPG Board of Directors. She volunteers for the Pancreatic Action Network (PanCAN), serving as a national speaker and consultant. She also served on the Oncology Nutrition Practice Analysis Workgroup, which contributed efforts for certification of oncology dietitians.
