January 13, 2012
On Monday, January 16, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua's new facility is opening their doors to patients. This new medical home is a 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, ambulatory care center, located at 2300 Southwood Drive off of Exit 8 of the Everett Turnpike in Nashua. The new facility combines the services of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua East, West and Squires Centers, and features a patient-centered and environmentally friendly design, to serve as One Healthy Location to meet patients' needs.
On Friday, January 13, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua East, West and Squires Centers will close to patients, as nearly 350 providers and staff move into the new building. Urgent Appointments will be available to patients at the new facility on January 13 for more urgent needs, while other patients will be triaged as appropriate until the new facility officially opens on January 16.
In addition to the existing services that have been offered in Nashua in primary and specialty care, patients will benefit from extended hours for urgent appointments, on-site endoscopy services, extensive diagnostic testing including lab and radiology services, hematology and oncology services from the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and pediatric specialties from the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, all under one roof. Also offered are services that cover every aspect of women's healthcare, including obstetrics, gynecology and nurse midwifery; breast health and imaging; and reproductive endocrinology/infertility services. Additional new services include a Center for Shared Decision Making, to help patients and families make difficult health care decisions, and an Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic to help meet the occupational and environmental health needs of the community workforce.
"Our provider teams at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua are made-up of physicians, nurse practitioners, care coordinators and support staff who work together collaboratively and in consultation with one another," said Dr. Sanders Burstein, Medical Director for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua. "The design of our new facility enhances this collaboration, enabling us to better serve our patients and provide the best care, in the right place, at the right time, every time."
As part of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system of care, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua provides patients with access to more coordinated care from a nationally renowned academic medical center, collaborating with specialists from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Additionally, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua has local relationships with other health care providers/agencies in the community with physicians also serving on the medical staff of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital, providing care close to home whenever possible.
To commemorate the grand opening of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua's new facility, a Grand Opening Celebration is being held on Saturday, January 28 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., specifically designed for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua's VIPs (very important patients), neighbors, and friends. An estimated 1,500 attendees will enjoy tours of the new building, complimentary health screenings, and great food by local area restaurants including Speakers Corner, Country Tavern/Greenhouse Catering, Burtons Bar & Grill and Villa Banca. In addition, representatives from Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry will be on-site during the celebration to register interested individuals, and a simple cheek swab and insurance card are all it takes. The day will include prizes, fun activities for kids, and much more. The official ribbon cutting begins at 10 a.m. to kick off the festivities and is open to everyone.
