The Cancer Control Research Program is involved in:

  • Anticipate growth in communications research aimed at adoption of cancer behaviors
    • With increased emphasis on interventions
    • Translational projects with FMRI
  • Anticipate growth in communications research aimed at patient decision-making
    • Trials of decision aids
    • Basic work into how patients understand medical information
  • Anticipate continuation of strong registry research
    • Colon cancer registry funding
  • Anticipate dissemination research on screening in office settings
  • Increased publication on technology assessment
    • With the completion of the LCST
  • Anticipate R01-level projects on use of problem solving for symptom management and preservation of function in patients with cancer
  • More research directed at understanding why outcomes of cancer care vary by region
  • More collaboration with TDI both in the area of outcomes research and in the education program
