Program Themes

Members of the Cancer Epidemiology and Chemoprevention Research Program are investigating the following areas:
  • Population Genomics - examining how genetic, genomic, and epigenomic factors contribute to and modify cancer risk and how these factors can be applied to understanding the biology of human cancer.
  • Emerging Risk Factors - examining prevalent environmental exposures on cancer risk, the causal role of nutrients and drugs as risk or preventative factors for cancer, and how risk factors may contribute differentially to molecular subtypes of disease.
  • Lifecourse Epidemiology - examining the impact of exposures and risk factors from the prenatal period through disease onset and beyond to understand the mechanisms of these factors and to inform preventative strategies.
