Three research themes within Cancer Imaging & Radiobiology focus on:
- Cancer nanotechnology to deliver and excite targeted magnetic nanoparticles for treatment of loco-regional and potentially metastatic cancers.
- EPR oximetry and radiation dosimetry to quantitate radiation exposure.
- Imaging and image-guidance in cancer investigations to develop molecular and physically-based imaging and image-guided techniques for cancer detection, characterization, and surgical or other interventions. The range of imaging, measurement, and treatment techniques under investigation by CIR members provides an innovative framework, facilitated through NCCC support, for combining conceptually new approaches to obtain unique data in vivo for clinical decision-making in the identification and management of cancer in patients and radiation exposure survivors.
