Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program

The Molecular and Cellular Biology at Dartmouth training program (MCBD) includes the majority of trainers and a select group of students in the Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) Graduate Program, the largest graduate program at Dartmouth.

MCBD is a predoctoral training program. The requirements for the PhD for all MCB graduate students (and MCBD trainees) include:

Training in the responsible conduct of research, research rotations, courses, and journal clubs
A term of teaching
A qualifying exam
Yearly research-in-progress seminars
A thesis, a thesis seminar, and a thesis defense

When the research rotations, core courses, and qualifying exam have been completed satisfactorily, the student is advanced to candidacy for the PhD degree.
