Survivor Program

Director: Ellen Lavoie Smith, PhD, ARNP, AOCN

The Survivor Program provides physical, psychological, social, and spiritual support to cancer survivors.  We strive for excellence in patient-centered care by promoting wellness, education, and research to maximize the quality of life of cancer survivors through improving clinical practice.

The services offered are available to anyone who has been touched by cancer.  Our intent is to support cancer survivors transitioning from treatment back to an independent lifestyle.

There are three program components:

Cancer Survivors Clinic –Weekly interdisciplinary clinic where appointments are available to patients for developing an individualized Transition Care Plan and/or for providing expert symptom management of long-term side effects from cancer treatment.

Education –Weekly educational sessions for patients, family, and caregivers which address topics that affect survivors' quality of life.

Research –Ongoing research conducted by the staff of the survivor program to improve and add to what we know about survivorship.  We are funded to study the needs of cancer survivors in New Hampshire and develop a database to help us develop programs tailored to meet these needs. Other research efforts focus on neuropathy and spirituality.
