The Prouty Announces In-Person Participation for 2021

The Prouty

The Prouty makes a direct impact in our community. Because of the funds raised through The Prouty, we are providing world-class patient care locally and fueling ground-breaking research to prevent and cure cancer, and enhance survivorship.

Steven D. Leach, MD, director of NCCC

The Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center announce a hybrid Prouty event, with in-person and virtual participation options available this summer. Registration is open at TheProuty.org.

There are four ways to participate in The Prouty this year. In-person options include: Golf (Friday, July 9 at Eastman Golf Links in Grantham, NH), 20-mile Cycle (Saturday, July 10 at Dewey Field Lot in Hanover, NH), 5k Walk (Sunday, July 11 at Dewey Field Lot in Hanover, NH). The Virtual Prouty and Prouty Ultimate will take place June 1-July 10, 2021, 40 days in honor of the 40th Prouty.

The Prouty is northern New England’s largest family-friendly fundraising event combining cycling, walking, and more to raise funds and awareness for life-saving research and critical patient and family support services at Dartmouth's and Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC).

"We are excited for the 40th Prouty and look forward to celebrating this milestone year with our community, using a flexible hybrid format," said Steven D. Leach, MD, director of NCCC. “The Prouty makes a direct impact in our community. Because of the funds raised through The Prouty, we are providing world-class patient care locally and fueling ground-breaking research to prevent and cure cancer, and enhance survivorship."

"We are excited to be back together in person, bringing our community a small piece of our traditional Prouty," shares Jaclynn Rodriguez, executive director for the Friends of NCCC. "The Prouty has always been about hope, and this year’s hybrid model is a stepping stone to a return to normalcy from the pandemic. No matter what you choose, join us and make a difference!"

In-person participation sign-ups will be open to pre-registered participants first. Space will be limited. Designated start times will be assigned to small groups to meet capacity restrictions and no large gatherings will take place this year.  The Prouty will be following local health guidelines and enhanced safety protocols.

The Prouty began in 1982 when four NCCC nurses, inspired by the courage of their patient, Audrey Prouty, committed to cycling 100 miles through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Over the past 40 years, thousands of passionate individuals have come together to bike, walk, row, golf and more to make a difference. Since its inception, The Prouty has raised more than $50 million to support cancer research and patient and family support services. Thank you to all that have made this possible!
