The Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center announce the launch of the 40th Annual Prouty, with registration now open. The Prouty is northern New England’s largest family-friendly fundraising event combining cycling, walking, and more to raise funds and awareness for life-saving research and critical patient and family support services at Dartmouth's and Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC).

The Prouty began in 1982 when four NCCC nurses, inspired by the courage of their patient, Audrey Prouty, committed to cycling 100 miles through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Over the past 40 years, thousands of passionate individuals have come together to bike, walk, row, golf and more to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Since its inception, The Prouty has raised more than $48 million to support cancer research and patient support services. Thank you to all that have made this possible!

“We are excited to launch the 40th Prouty and look forward to celebrating this milestone year with our community,” says Steven D. Leach, MD, director of NCCC. “The Prouty makes a tremendous impact. Because of the funds raised through The Prouty, we are providing stellar care directly to our community and fueling knowledge for the world.”

“Plans are underway for the 40th Prouty and we promise to bring an inspirational event to our community, despite the global pandemic,” shares Jaclynn Rodriguez, executive director for the Friends of NCCC. “We will produce an enhanced virtual event which will include a live ceremony broadcast and much more. If at all possible, this spring we will announce in-person Prouty participation options based on safety and health guidelines. In-person space and in-person participation will be limited, and first available to pre-registered participants. We will be to sharing more details in the coming months—stay-tuned!”

To honor its 40th year, The Prouty will take place for 40 days between June 1 and July 10, 2021. Virtual participants can Prouty anywhere, any way, at any time and can join teams or create their own team.
