NRG-BN012: A Randomized Phase III Trial of Pre-Operative Compared to Post-Operative Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Patients with Resectable Brain Metastases

Principal Investigator

Gregory Russo

Study Number

STUDY02001911

Summary

This study is for patients who are having surgery to treat cancer that has spread to their brain. Researchers want to learn if giving radiation before surgery is a better or worse treatment approach than having surgery then receiving radiation (usual approach) to improve a participant’s length of time without cancer in the brain returning, getting worse, or causing scarring in the brain. Participants will be randomly place in one of two groups: one will receive radiation before surgery and one group will receive radiation after surgery. After surgery, all participants will be followed every month for 2 years, then every 6 months for 2 years.
