In just five days, northern New England’s largest family-friendly fundraising event returns to the Upper Valley. The 42nd annual Prouty, to benefit life-saving cancer research and patient and family support services at Dartmouth Cancer Center, kicks off on Friday, July 14, and runs through Saturday, July 15. Registration is still open with participation options including cycling, walking, rowing, and the Prouty Ultimate (two days of cycling throughout New Hampshire and Vermont). Virtual participation is also available.

“We are excited to bring our community together again this upcoming weekend to raise funds and awareness for Dartmouth Cancer Center,” said Jaclynn Rodriguez, executive director of the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center. “The Prouty is a true celebration—participants of all ages come out to bike, walk, row, or golf to make a difference—the more, the merrier. Whether this is your 30th Prouty or you are participating for the first time, we hope you will join us and go all in to end cancer.”

An anticipated 3,500 participants and volunteers are expected at this year’s Prouty. For the first time this year, a portion of the funds raised through the Prouty will be dedicated to expansion of the Dartmouth Cancer Center Food Pantry, to assist the 22 percent of cancer patients who struggle to afford groceries.

The Prouty began in 1982 when four Cancer Center nurses, inspired by the courage of their patient, Audrey Prouty, committed to cycling 100 miles through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. For the past 42 years, thousands of passionate individuals have come together to bike, walk, row, golf, and more to help end cancer. Since its inception, the Prouty has raised more than $52 million to support cancer research and patient support services.

Registration for the Prouty will remain open through July 15. To register, visit theprouty.org.
