The Hemophilia Program is one of three federally designated hemophilia treatment centers in northern New England providing multidisciplinary, comprehensive care for pediatric and adult patients with hereditary bleeding disorders.
Treatment and Services
Our clinical and laboratory facilities provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with other bleeding problems and disorders. Through the Thrombosis Program we provide a full range of consultative services for patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and arterial thrombosis, including evaluation for hereditary and acquired thrombophilia and thrombosis risk assessment.
Our program meets the highest standards set by the National Hemophilia Foundation for a Comprehensive Hemophilia Center including an experienced team of adult and pediatric hematologists, clinical nurse specialists, adult and pediatric orthopedists, physical therapist, on site coagulation laboratory, infectious disease specialists, hepatologists, and a full range of anti-hemophilic factor products. Hemophilia centers throughout New England refer patients to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics for orthopedic surgery, radionuclide synovectomy, and diagnostic coagulation evaluation services.
The Public Health Services 340B Drug Pricing Program
The Public Health Service 340B Drug Pricing Program Program is a federal discount program available to HTCs and other covered entities. Our Hemophilia Program was the second hemophilia center in the nation to be an "approved covered entity" which enables patients to receive a significant cost reduction (estimated to be 15-20%) for certain product purchase from the Public Health Service (called "340B pricing").
