Our Surgical Oncology program provides expert diagnosis, surgery, and follow-up care for cancer. As a part of highly specialized, multidisciplinary cancer teams at Dartmouth Cancer Center, our surgical oncologists offer innovative surgical options for benign (non-cancerous) and malignant tumors of the breast, endocrine system, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver, pancreas, and skin.

Our programs and services
- Breast Surgery
Our highly skilled and experienced breast surgeons work closely with other specialists and scientists in the Comprehensive Breast Program to offer expert diagnosis and treatment for a full range of conditions from benign breast disease to complex and rare forms of breast cancer. - Endocrine Surgery
Our surgeons, trained in cancer and in minimally invasive surgery, collaborate with the Endocrine Tumors Program to provide the latest diagnosis and treatment options for benign and cancerous conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and other hormone-producing organs. - Liver Surgery
As part of interdisciplinary programs in the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program and Liver Tumor Clinic, experienced surgical oncologists provide surgical and follow up care for liver problems including benign and malignant liver tumors and metastases of cancer to the liver from other organs. - Pancreas and Bile Duct Surgery
Highly trained and experienced cancer surgeons work with a range of specialists to offer the most advanced treatment options for pancreatic and biliary disease, including acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic and bile duct cancer, pancreatic cysts, and bile duct diseases. - Sarcoma Surgery
Specially trained surgical oncologists provide technical advances in diagnosis and treatment of sarcomas and other tumors of the bones, muscles and connective tissues. Sarcomas and cancers of the connective tissues are uncommon and complex, and every patient we see receives highly personalized care. - Skin Cancer Surgery
Our surgical oncologists collaborate with skin cancer experts from dermatology, dermatopathology, radiation oncology and medical oncology to provide effective planning and surgical treatment for skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma, melanoma and Merkel cell cancer. - Stomach Surgery
Surgical oncologists specially trained and experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of stomach problems offer the latest treatment options for a range of conditions including gastric (stomach) cancers, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), and benign ulcers and tumors. We work closely with the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center on ostomy and stoma care.

Our surgical oncologists are developing new knowledge about cancer and more effective diagnosis and treatment through teaching, research, and publications.
Through the Center for Surgical Innovation, surgical oncologists also are working to improve current procedures, develop new surgical options, and improve patient care and outcomes.
