We have prepared this list of select national and local data sources to support you in accessing data about our catchment area.

National data sources

CDC Wonder

CDC Wonder includes the following cancer data:

  • Cancer Incidence since 1999 - by year, state, metropolitan area, age group, race, ethnicity, sex, childhood cancers, cancer site;
  • Cancer Mortality since 1999 - by year, state, metropolitan area, age group, race, ethnicity, sex, cancer site;
  • Cancer Mortality Incidence Rate Ratios since 1999 - by year, state, metropolitan area, race, ethnicity, sex, cancer site; and
  • National Program of Cancer Registries 5-year Relative Survival by race, sex, age group, cancer site (but not by state).

CDC Wonder also includes data on deaths, environment, population, AIDS, diabetes, chronic disease, infectious diseases, pesticide illness and surveillance, life expectancy, state health, smoking, drug deaths, and more. For more information, refer to the CDC Wonder website.

North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) On-line Cancer Data

State Cancer Profiles

The National Cancer Institute’s State Cancer Profiles includes data by state, county, and health service area, available in map, table, and graph formats. Data includes:

  • Demographics, including Census data at state- and county- levels
  • Screening and risk factors at state- and county-level levels
  • Incidence trends and rate changes
  • Mortality trends and rate changes

US Cancer Statistics: Data Visualizations

The US Cancer Statistics Data Visualizations includes data for the most recent 5 years; formats include maps, charts, tables, and rankings by state, county, congressional district, sex, and race/ethnicity. Specific data available includes:

  • Incidence, mortality, prevalence, stage, survival, and trends over time
  • Risk factors and prevention behaviors, such as screening, physical activity, nutrition, alcohol, tobacco, obesity, and HPV vaccination
  • Special analyses including cancers grouped by risk factors (HPV-, obesity-, physical inactivity-, tobacco-, and alcohol-related cancers)
  • Childhood cancers and cancers diagnosed among American Indian and Alaska Native populations

Local data sources

Healthy Vermonters 2030

Healthy Vermonters based on the national Healthy People framework. Every decade, a set of objectives is selected to monitor and improve the health of Vermonters, and a set of measurable indicators are established for each objective. The objectives, indicators, and monitoring data are available on the Healthy Vermonters 2030 website.

New Hampshire Environmental Health Tracking

The New Hampshire Environmental Health Tracking Program monitors environmental risk factors such as radon, drinking water quality, air quality, and more. Data are available at Census tract, town, county, and state levels.

New Hampshire WISDOM

New Hampshire WISDOM is a data portal maintained by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. The portal includes data on cancer incidence and mortality overall and by cancer site, sex, and county that are available in table, graph, and map formats. It also includes other data of interest to cancer researchers, including data on social determinants of health, health equity, cancer-related risk factors and co-morbidities, and more.

Vermont Cancer Data

The Vermont Cancer Data page includes a variety of data and resources of interest to researchers, including the Cancer Data Explorer, Cancer Scorecard, Cancer Data Statistics and Reports, and much more.
